Finding time to work out during the holidays can be tough, especially when your kids are home from school, you’re rushing around buying & wrapping last minute gifts, returning items and trying to slow down and enjoy your time with your family.
Here are 5 practical tips to help you incorporate exercise into your holiday routine:
1. Set Realistic Goals: Acknowledge that your usual routine will be disrupted during the holidays. Have an initial plan AND a couple of backup plans.
2. Schedule Workouts: Treat your workouts like appointments. Block out time on your calendar for exercise and pull in help. Discuss your workout schedule with your significant other, your parents, in-laws, babysitter, anyone that may be able to help!
3. Get the Family Involved: Plan family activities that incorporate physical movement, such as hiking, ice skating, walking, or playing games in the park. This way, you can spend quality time with your family while staying active. Remember movement is movement. It’s a thousand percent okay to take a few days off from the gym and incorporate other types of movement.
4. Opt for Short Workouts: As Red Eye members, you always have access to our programed workouts. If you know you can’t make it in for a class take components from class and complete them at home. Message us for any adjustments and questions! We are more than happy to help!!
5. Incorporate Movement into Daily Activities: Look for opportunities to move throughout the day. Take the stairs, park further away, or do a few stretches while watching TV.
Remember, the goal is to find a balance that works for you and allows you to enjoy the holiday season while staying active.
